Welcome the New Year!

So we begin a new year. It seems like just the other day we were welcoming the year 2000. With it I am sure we will have lots of surprises and memories to make. Life has gotten busy again for our family as we have moved back to Utah and are surrounded by family. We are now awaiting our move to South Korea. Steve leaves on Saturday and hopefully Sabrinna and I will be over soon after.... I did something pretty stupid the other day and it will postpone when we go over. I have now retired from the sport of sledding. For those of you that know I broke my leg sledding in 6th grade. Well we went sledding the other day and I broke my ankle sledding. I feel so dumb! It has been really humbling because I have to rely on Steve and my family for so much right now. Its hard for Sabrinna because she doesn't understand why I can't carry her around any more and follow her into the kitchen to get a snack. I am so grateful that I have a family that is willing to help me out. So already our new year has started with a bang and I am sure there will be more surprises to come. Happy New Year!

AHHHH!

Most people know that I do not like bugs, spiders and little creepy crawly things. We have been in Texas now for almost 3 months. I have seen spiders and bugs outside that have been pretty gross. The point is they were outside. Well last Saturday morning I woke up and went into the bathroom. As I flipped on the light I saw a HUGE cock roach scurry across the floor and over towards the bathtub. Of course I screamed for help and was freaking out. He was gone, we could not find him. I was on end all morning. So I started cleaning, I swept the floor and pulled out the vacuum. To make sure the roach had nothing to eat. I was vacuuming when I looked up on the wall and there he was staring at me in all his glory. Steve had just left for a run and would be gone for 30 minutes. What was I to do. I am to big of a whip to kill it myself. So I just watched it. I continued to clean and every couple of seconds I would look to make sure he was still there. When Steve finally got home, which felt like he was gone forever I told him to kill it. Which he did. My night in shining armor. Steve later said it wasn't even that big, he seen lots bigger on his mission, which he served in Argentina. I don't care though the bug scared me and I didn't want it in my house. Luckily that has been the only roach we have seen while in Texas. And hopefully the last, I have been told where there is one there are lots. Only 2 days left!

Sea World San Antonio

Last weekend we also sent to Sea World. We were able to see dolphins, whales, sea lions, sharks, sting rays, and pink flamingos. They also have a variety of animal shows. The Believe show with Shamu was so much fun. Seeing the whales jump up so high and the trainers working with them doing different tricks. One of the trainers stood on the whales back and suffered as the whale swam through the pool. The park has a pool of dolphins that people can buy a tray of fish to feed them. We were able to get close enough to touch the dolphins. It was so cool! The park also has some rides. We took turns going on the rides. One nice things about going on the off season is there is no line. Some people, including Steve just stayed on the rides and rode them a couple of times. Sabrinna had a hard time afterwards because she didn't get a nap that day. With that said we still loved it and had a blast!

Brackenridge Park

This last weekend was one of the best I have had in a long time. What made it so great was the time together with my family. As Steve has been finishing up the last little bit of his training here in Texas he has had some time off in the afternoons. On this last Thursday he got off early and we went to the Brackenridge Park. The park was beautiful! There are some 384 acres of land that make up this park. Some of it has been developed into a golf course, amphitheater and the city Zoo. However, a large portion of it is left in the natural scenery found here in Texas. This tree and wooden filled park has hiking trails, camp fire pits and a fun fun train ride that goes through out the park. We went on the 20 minute 2 mile train ride that went over the San Antonio River, through the woods, and past some other features the park offers. We all loved it and had a great time. After that we went to feed the ducks in the river. Sabrinna had fun watching and pointing at the ducks. We walked around on the trails and let Sabrinna wonder around. She was in her element. She was walking around, pointing, talking and picking up all sorts of rocks, twigs, and anything else she could find. Steve and I just sat back and watched as she enjoyed herself. It makes us so happy to see her beam with happiness.

Dress Up!

Sabrinna is so much fun to watch and play with these days. She has taken to so many things. She loves clothes and shoes. She carries Steve's and my shoes around the house talking to herself. Its as though she has some very important business to attend to with the shoes. Tonight she found three pairs of shoes and proceed to give them all to me. The best part was watching her pick them up. She was trying to get two of the pairs at the same time. It took her a few tries but she was able to do it. She then brought the shoes over to me and set them in my lap.

By the end of the day Sabrinna does not like to have her clothes on so we strip her down to a diaper. She then will play with her shirts and pants and try to put them on and take them off. Again and Again and Again. SO CUTE!! In this picture she found one of Dad's shirts and that became the object of attention.

Our Trip to Abilene

A couple of weeks ago we went up to Abilene, Texas to visit some friends from Utah. We had a great time! We went to the Zoo, and then went and rode horses. Sabrinna even rode the horse with Steve. Steve and I both liked getting out of San Antonio for the weekend to see some familiar faces.

Upon Request!

Sabrinna has taken to dancing lately. She is so cute as she puts her hands in the air and sways back and forth, with the occasional circle around the front room. As I have told family members about her dance routine they have asked for some footage. Its kind of hard to see and I now realize how funny I sound on tape. Oh well.

My Ladybug

I really wanted to make Sabrinna's Halloween costume this year. However, because of the move to Texas, which happened sooner then planned it did not get done. Then I found out about the web page familyfun.com They have lots of great ideas for different activities , crafts, recipes and Halloween costumes. I found this cute Ladybug costume that I could make rather easily. I think for my limited supplies it turned out well.

Halloween Fun!

One night Steve went to the store and he took Sabrinna with him, to have a little Daddy -Daughter time. While they were shopping they found the pumpkin patch and the perfect pumpkin for Sabrinna. She held it the entire time they were in the store and on the way home. For Halloween I wanted Sabrinna to have a fun activity but she is obviously to young to care a pumpkin so we opted to paint. She had a lot of fun doing it. Dad was very helpful in teaching her how to paint herself. I think in the end she had more paint on herself then on her little pumpkin.

Camp Bullis

As part of Steve's training here in Texas he has to go into the field at Camp Bullis. He is living in a tent, with no showers. He has a total of 3 weeks in the field. He does get to come home on the weekends which is great to break the long training up. Some of the training involves Combative's, Gas Chamber, Rifle Training....plus much more. We have made it through the first week and almost the second. A true test of Army strong.

Help in the Kitchen

Sabrinna and I were in the mood to make some scones the other day. I wanted some help in the kitchen so I enlisted Sabrinnas help. She is so cute! Flour got everywhere and on everything but she had fun helping. I think I have a regular assistant now.

Opps!

Sabrinna has discovered a talent that she excels at. A talent she shares with all other children. Making a mess. No job is to big. She can take anything and make mayhem out of it in seconds. Her favorites include toilet paper, the kitchen pots, the couch pillows, and now the baby wipes.
